You can test a Servermall Cloud Services (SMCS) virtual machine, that is, a VDS/VPS virtual server, on live infrastructure by getting free trial access for 30 days, provided that you have not previously used SMCS services.
With the free virtual machine (VM) trial, the following will be available to you:
- 2 vCPU;
- 4 GB RAM;
- 75 GB All-Flash storage;
- 5 TB of traffic;
- 1 public IPv4 address;
- backup;
- snapshots of the virtual machine state;
- operating system images and applications from the app marketplace.
To activate the free trial, you need to register a SMCS account (user account) and add a bank card. EUR 0.99 will be charged to the card for application verification and processing. If your application is approved, this amount will be credited to your SMCS account balance. If the application is rejected, the amount is non-refundable.
Important: you can stop using the free virtual machine trial at any time before the trial period ends. If you do not do this, after the trial period ends you will automatically be charged for the next month of virtual machine resource usage at the current SMCS rates. The payment will be taken from your account balance, and if there are not enough funds in the balance, from the linked bank card. After that, charges will continue under the subscription model until you cancel the subscription.
The steps below show how to order the SMCS free virtual machine trial.
Prerequisites
To order the free trial, the following conditions must be met:
- You must have a SMCS account with the minimum required information completed, and with your mobile phone number and email address verified. The account registration process is described in the “Creating an Account” guide.
- You must not have previously used either the free trial versions or the paid versions of the “Virtual Machines”, “Kubernetes Clusters”, and “Cloud Infrastructure” products.
- You must have a bank card with at least EUR 0.99 available for the charge.
- You must sign in to your SMCS account if you have not already done so:
- If 2FA (two-factor authentication) is not enabled, follow the “Signing in to the Control Panel” guide.
- If 2FA is enabled, follow the “2FA Signing in to the Control Panel” guide.
Ordering a Trial Virtual Machine

You will be redirected to the free virtual machine trial order page. - In the “Choose OS or App for your VM trial” section, select the image type used to deploy the virtual machine: “Operating System” or “Marketplace App”.
Then proceed depending on the image type you selected:- “Operating System“.
Select the operating system distribution, and then, if required, its version from the drop-down list on the right side of the block with the selected OS.
For example, selecting the “Ubuntu 24.04 LTS” image will look like this: - “Marketplace App”.
Select the software stack, and then, if required, its version from the drop-down list on the right side of the block with the selected stack.
For example, selecting “ariaDB 11.8.2” will look like this:
For easier searching, you can use:- Stack type selection: “CMS”, “Databases”, “Frameworks” – to narrow the available options. “All” – to display all options.
- The “Filter by product” filter – to search for an image by keyword.
- The “Show more…” button – to display more options.
- “Operating System“.
- Review the “Customer Agreement” and “Trial Policy“. If you agree with all terms of these documents, select the “I confirm my account details are accurate, I’m authorized to use this payment method, and I agree to the Customer Agreement and Trial Policy” checkbox.
Important: by selecting the checkbox above, you also confirm your consent to the charge of EUR 0.99 for application verification and processing in accordance with the “Trial Policy“. Based on the result of the application review, including document verification where required, activation of the trial period may be refused. If the application is refused, the EUR 0.99 fee is non-refundable. If the application is approved, this amount is credited to your SMCS account balance.
If you do not agree with the trial access terms, you can cancel the free trial request by clicking the “Cancel trial request” button.
- Confirm, by selecting the “I understand this order creates a subscription. Unless I cancel in the Client Area before the free trial ends on DD Month YYYY, I authorize automatic recurring charges of €XX.XX/month until I cancel.” checkbox, that you understand and agree to the following: if you do not cancel the trial period before it ends, the fee for the next billing period of virtual machine resource usage will be charged automatically at the current SMCS rates. The charge is taken first from your SMCS account balance, and if there are not enough funds in the balance, from the linked bank card. After that, charges will be made automatically for each next billing period until the subscription is cancelled.
- Enter your bank card details in the “Card Number”, “Expiry Date”, and “CVV/CVC2” fields, and then click “Make payment”.
A charge of EUR 0.99 will be taken from your bank card. If your account details successfully pass the anti-fraud system check, the virtual machine will be deployed according to the parameters you selected. After that, the virtual machine will appear in the “Services” section of the control panel, and an email confirming that the virtual machine is ready for use will be sent to the email address linked to your SMCS account. The email will include the details required to connect to the virtual machine.
What’s Next
After deploying the virtual machine, you will be able to:
- Manage the virtual machine from the SMCS control panel: start, stop, and restart it, and check its current status. For more information, see the “Virtual Machine Control Panel” guide.
- Connect to the virtual machine for administration: via SSH using OpenSSH or through the console in the SMCS control panel. The connection procedure is described in the “Connecting to a Virtual Machine” guide.
- Submit a request to cancel the trial version of the virtual machine, if necessary. This will help you avoid an automatic switch to a paid subscription if you no longer plan to use the VM. The cancellation procedure is described in the “Canceling a Virtual machine” guide.
